Nightsky, Tails and Living rooms

I am a stray human,

wandering in another land.

They are domestic pets,

belonging to people in foreign names.

Detached to attach,

to fill the missing part of nests.

Soft and tame,

wrapping home in mind.

When the notion of home becomes indeterminate, I see my given foreignness from these domesticated animals. I am far away from where I come from, but I do not close to my immediate surroundings either. There is a very existence of distance, yet the perception of distance is always relative. It can be spatial, where my body travelled around; It can also be emotional, as I feel detached and aloof. These images are my symptoms. They are whispering to my solitude, whirling in between alienation and normality—the displaced, ambiguous, and restrained. And I want to share them with every strayed hearts.

In the Neuland

What are our future alternatives for urban life?
For this field trip, I visited Neuland together with Miranda, and we would like to provide you two different aspects of the location. Neuland is a community garden situated at an industrial wasteland in south of Köln. Started in 2013, it represents a future way of sustainable citizen engagement against modern urbanization. Visiting Neuland as an urban resident myself, I am impressed by ingenious strategies and earnest passion of the urban farmers. Human interaction with the nature is reintroduced to urban life, where the potential of eco-urban connection merges.
